the yard sale went off more easily than i thought it would. i didn't make a ton of money ($90 maybe) but i got rid of a couple of really big things. (including, surprisingly, a broken lawn mower, a broken CD burner, and a far-from-perfect TV. go figure.) now i just have to call vietnam vets to schedule a time to pick up the stuff that didn't sell. i am anxious to clear out the garage and get started on that project.
by the way, the little girl in the photo and her mom are my next-door neighbors. they came to the sale FOUR TIMES. and bought stuff EACH TIME. they'd purchase a little toy or something, go back home, then re-emerge from their house after 10 minutes or so to buy more stuff. gotta love that.
so i'm glad that's done. the pledge drive is finally done, too. we came close to the goal, but didn't quite make it. it's hard to put that much work into something and then not achieve total success, but we are near enough that we're not discouraged. the rest might come in through the mail in the next few weeks. fingers crossed.
i'm taking a couple of days off to recover from everything. i've got a list of chores to get done, but mostly i hope to watch some movies and just veg out.
Posted by xta at April 10, 2005 11:35 PM | TrackBackI'm glad the sale went well! Before I moved to Israel, I sold everything...everything! It's amazing what sells fast and what doesn't. I came to the Holy Land with two suitcases of clothes and that was it.
Spring cleaning is good for you!

btw, THANK YOU for letting me sell stuff in your yard!
Posted by: lisa at April 11, 2005 12:39 PMthe tomato stakes belong to a friend who was also selling stuff that morning. i've never grown a tomato in my life... i can barely stand to eat them.
Posted by: christa at April 11, 2005 06:16 PMFirst shellfish. Now tomatoes? I thought I knew you Christa, but maybe I don't at all. I'm going to have to reevaluate our friendhsip. How can you have tomatos and mozzarella with no tomatoes? You can't!
