drive to chapel hill: 25 minutes circle parking deck, looking for a space: 5 minutes walk from deck to medical building: 6 minutes wait in line for iced latte: 5 minutes check in with receptionist: 2 minutes time spent "in chairs": 3 minutes wait for doctor to enter exam room: 3 minutes exam: 2 minutes, not counting initial small-talk wait to check-out: 8 painful minutes walk from building to parking deck, sipping still-cold latte: 6 minutes drive to work: 55 minutesPosted by xta at June 8, 2005 01:00 PM | TrackBack
The warm feeling you get from knowing that you're a good person because you take care of your health: Priceless.
Or not.
Posted by: minty at June 8, 2005 02:04 PMIt's even more fun with two little kids in tow. (And one of them uses a wheelchair, so we do the appointment run way too often.) But yeah, housecalls, that's a concept worth revisiting. When you call 911 and have five paramedics in your living room at 2:30 am, I guess that's *kind of* a housecall... but I definitely don't recommend it.

I enjoyed when I was pregnant with the twins going to the doctor every other day for a ten minute check and ultrasound, and then back to work. It was almost as much fun as your trip.
it was one of those, um, "lady visits".
i have to go 2 or 3 times a year, so it's all become very routine.
Wow! That's a lot of time in the car. I recently read something about the Triangle being one of the most expensive areas to drive based on annual gas costs and the time an average resident there spends driving. No fun....except for hearing Christa on the radio and NPR.
