the day started off with a wedding in beautiful downtown durham. lots of interesting clothes to look at and quite a few interesting shoe choices. some fascinating tattoos and hair color, too.
later that day i got totally sucked into a VH1 marathon of cycle two of america's next top model, which only reinforced the day's fascination with fashion.
so it seems only natural that i end the day at zappos checking out some shoes for the fall, right? right.
my heart isn't totally smitten with any of these yet, but perhaps looking at them all on one page will draw me towards one in particular.
as always, opinions are welcome.
Posted by xta at October 2, 2005 01:26 AM | TrackBackthe clarks nimble are the pair that stand out the most to me of the group. they are sleek, cool looking, and wearable with many, many things. i think they will also make your feet look small.
the sofft nicolina are cool, but the price is much too high. suede ruins so easliy, it would suck to spend so much on a pair of shoes, then wear them on a rainy day and regret it.
i like the fitzwell bobbie; they would add a nice pop of color to an outfit.
dammit, you're making me want to go to DSW today, and i have better things to do!!
Posted by: lisa at October 2, 2005 08:23 AMThe Clarks Nimble are a clear winner.
Also, Boots are COMPLETELY in this fall - I would buy some but fear my sadness at trying to get a pair over my calves. Regardless, buy the boots as well.
And then get yourself some gauchos (I just picked up a pair at Lane Bryant). You will be a fashion Diva by Tuesday!
I'm in complete agreement - Nimble is definitely #1, and Bobbie #2. I love boots (oops, almost typed I love boors which is also true). Between sandals and boots, I never wear pantyhose. Plus I find boots flattering to my thick dairy fed legs.
Posted by: Marianne at October 2, 2005 01:12 PMoh my gosh... i just spotted these hush puppies, too:

i like the flowers, but i wish the heel were higher (and the toe a little pointier). hrm.
Posted by: christa at October 2, 2005 04:26 PMThe nicolina is a no for me. The white stitching around the base throws it all off somehow.
Posted by: John Boy at October 2, 2005 04:34 PMhow funny that we both posted about shoes today. the nimble are the most stylish in my opinion.
at the time my favorite was yoanna, but now when I watch the reruns I like Shandi best. I don't know what Shandi is doing now but I've seen Mercedes a couple of times doing runway shows on Fashiontrance.
Posted by: Sarah at October 2, 2005 05:15 PMsarah, a bunch of the girls were recently on (ugh) "the tyra banks show". shandi was there, but i don't recall her mentioning what she was doing... just that she wasn't with her boyfriend anymore. she's ray's favorite, too.
Posted by: christa at October 3, 2005 12:09 AMAnother vote for the Nimbles. I'm always a sucker for assymetry, and straps that aren't too fussy or girly. The boots (isabella) seem like a very good price, too. "And I won't get any older now the angels wanna wear my red shoes..."
Posted by: Penny at October 3, 2005 12:20 PMI'm fascinated by the boots that are more sock than boot!
although they probably aren't much different than the knee-high boots that I have - they have a leather "foot" and the rest is stretchy stuff. The join between the foot and the rest is a little noticeable, which is what I think one of the reviewers mentioned about these. but i still think you should get them - they could be really great with skirts for fall/winter.
