ok, i need your help.
i think i'm beginning to understand this new spam-catching feature... 99.5% of the junk appears to be dealt with swiftly and appropriately, but i need to make sure that valid comments aren't getting junked as well.
so, leave a comment, if you would. are you getting a "wait for approval" message? does your comment look at all like it could be spam? (are you mentioning viagra, for instance?)
one day this will all be sorted out and we can go back to our regular diet of shoe blogging...
Posted by xta at February 4, 2007 1:18 AM | TrackBackHere's a sensible and bland comment. Last time, I did get a message from the system that you would need to approve my comment. Best wishes for future shoe-blogging!
Posted by: minty at February 4, 2007 9:35 AMI'm going to mention socialism, since I've heard tha word's been blocked because its contains a word that starts with c and ends with s which supposedly helps some men with certain problems.
Posted by: Elizabeth at February 4, 2007 9:46 AMViagra! Sorry, I couldn't help myself. And I doubt the comment will appear now. Time for some Texas Holdem...
Posted by: htrouser at February 4, 2007 10:20 AMThe erection of that sign certainly gives one pause; satisfying though it might be to the author, it leaves me wanting more. In fact, I think about it even in bed. Those signposts are a little thick and girthy, don't you agree?
Posted by: Marianne at February 4, 2007 10:20 AMyou're right, trouser... i found your comment in the junk folder. :-)
Posted by: xta at February 4, 2007 10:34 AMI did also leave a comment before. It had no spam characteristics, and it did say that it would be moderated or something like that.
xxoo
I don't think I'm going to read this blog any more: it doesn't have nearly enough spam in it. ;) My comment on your earlier post seemed to go through fine.
Posted by: Joseph H. Vilas at February 4, 2007 2:17 PMWRT shoe blogging: I tried to vote your blog into the "Fashion/Clothing" and "Shoe/Footwear" categories on Blogshares.com (and thereby into the associated Quacktrack.com index, but I got voted down. :( I tried to link to what I was talking about here, but I can't seem to enter URLs in anchor tags into comments.
Posted by: Joseph H. Vilas at February 4, 2007 2:27 PMTesting, testing...
What a bizarre and funny sign! I just know there's a joke in there somewhere. It's like trying to find the matching concept pairs on a standardized test, but a very warped one.
How are you feeling, Dear? :)
Posted by: erthsister at February 4, 2007 8:56 PMblackbird-
my head has been quite surprisingly well lately. i'm still awaiting the results of my last IgM test, though.
joe-
URLs are, by default, disallowed by the spam-snaring software. maybe you could post the bulk of the link (without the "http:" bit?
erthsister-
it's right in front of your nose: "truth is better than fiction." :-)
I've been unsatisfied with the built in spam blocker in MT 3.3. I installed the CCode plugin and found it to block 100% of comment spam. The only problem is the plugin instructions are a little hard to understand because English isn't the author's first language.
But I still think CCode is the best thing going for blocking spam from MT, for what that's worth.
Posted by: Sarah at February 5, 2007 11:32 AMI'm going to mention that I'm so glad that GOD Was on the Colts side last night and not out helping the world with it's WARS or anything else remotely sensible.
Are you paying too much for your mortgage? (That's the kind of spam calls I mostly get--like I want to talk about my mortgage with strangers at a call center in Bangalore.) I hope you get this worked out, I've been missing some of your regular commenters...
Posted by: Penny at February 5, 2007 2:20 PMI can't remember what your spam blocker disliked, the last time I got bumped...hmmm. Was it...dentistry?
Posted by: pinky at February 5, 2007 4:50 PMTest 2, sent to you from...
Lagos, Nigeria.
Attention: The President/CEO
Dear Sir,
Confidential Business Proposal
Having consulted with my colleagues and based on the information gathered from the Nigerian Chambers Of Commerce And Industry, I have the privilege to request your assistance to transfer the sum of $47,500,000.00 (forty seven million, five hundred thousand United States dollars) into your accounts. The above sum resulted from an over-invoiced contract, executed, commissioned and paid for about five years (5) ago by a foreign contractor. This action was however intentional and since then the fund has been in a suspense account at The Central Bank Of Nigeria Apex Bank.
